What is the approximate cost of freshman student books
for one semester of college at the University of Florida?
I have told my grandaughter that I would pay for them and now wonder what I have gotten myself into!
Signed,
Patricia

Dear Patricia,
Are you sitting down?
Be prepared to spend about $1,000 per year just on required textbooks. So one semester’s worth would be about $500.00. It is not at all unusual to see a single textbook cost more than $100.00 nowadays, particularly as more textbooks come with bundled CD ROMs or DVDs.
Of course, given that the average cost of college tuition and fees alone this year will be $10,000 to $40,000 (depending on the school and whether it is public or private), you’re still getting off pretty lightly!
Something which may give you some relief is a comparative shopping site, such as BestWebBuys.com.
And, you are to be commended for supporting your grandaughter’s ambitions for higher learning!
