Is Austism Caused by Immunizations? Is There a Link?

I keep reading that there is a link between early childhood vaccinations and immunizations and the rise in autism in our country. Then I read that there isn’t, and it’s all a big conspiracy theory.

Which is it?

Concerned Parent

Dear Concerned,

Up until very recently there has been not only no credit given to the theory of a connection between immunizations (vaccinations) and autism, but those who suggested such a link were roundly criticized, at best. These included not only observant and concerned parents such as yourself, but even those in the medical establishment, and the government, who dared suggest such a thing. Instead, the explosion in autism cases in the United States, which has indeed closely tracked the increase in immunizations given to our young, was chalked up to “advances in reporting”. This despite the irrefutable knowledge that mercury, which has been present for years in immunizations as the vaccine preservative thimerosal, is known to be toxic and to have devestating effects on the developing nervous and immunilogical systems.

Just this year, however, an expose written by science and investigative journalist David Kirby is blowing the lid wide open on what he claims has been a cover-up of unbelievable proportions. Kirby’s book is called Evidence of Harm: Mercury in Vaccines and the Autism Epidemic, and you can read what he has to say here and here.

Then read what those who have reviewed his book, Evidence of Harm, have to say here:

You’ll never think about the issue the same way again.
